“Napa but in Winters, CA”
If you live in Davis, save yourself the trip and money! Just a short drive west, Winters is tucked away and is full of hidden gems. Berryessa Gap is no exception. This vineyard and winery is everything you want when a wine-tasting experience comes to mind.
There really isn’t much of a reason to go to Napa anymore besides just being able to say you went. The price of a tasting has increased dramatically and oftentimes, Napa is a tourist trap. You can beat that by going to Berryessa Gap Vineyard. There is plenty of good wine, not nearly as many people, and it is definitely less expensive.

- Location: About 16 miles from downtown Davis, this wine experience doesn’t get much better. Enjoy a peaceful drive into the country and a very conveniently located winery with plenty of space and parking.
- Wine: The vineyard and winery have won many awards for their wine. If you’re someone who claims to only drink award-winning wine, this checks that box. If you don’t care for the awards, then you know you are still drinking good wine. Win-win!
- Nature: The Gap is very easily seen from the property. As soon as you park, you see two mountains on either side with a gap/valley in the middle. That is where the grapes are grown! The vineyard uses the physical properties and climate to its advantage, which allows it to make its award-winning wine!
- Family Friendly: It is hard to imagine taking the whole family to Napa, as it would be quite a costly trip. There also isn’t much space for the kiddos to run around. At Berryessa Gap Vineyard, there is plenty of seating, space, and even food options for the whole family. Sometimes they even have live music!
